Deming Public Schools Department of Equity was fortunate to receive a generous donation of backpacks and school
supplies from Western Sky Community Care. Mr. Kristopher Gomez, Community Relations Coordinator for Western Sky
Community Care, drove down to Deming from Albuquerque to deliver 132 backpacks to be distributed by the Equity team
to students in need. The backpacks were filled with school supply essentials including pencils, pens, folders, spiral
notebooks, glue sticks, and erasers.
“Our department is so grateful for this most generous donation” said Crystal Gonzales, Lead Equity Liaison “Donations like
this are extremely helpful to families, especially for those living on a tight budget or that don’t meet the eligibility
requirements for our McKinney-Vento and/or Migrant Programs. Parents and students are so appreciative! The backpacks
and supplies are important in ensuring our students are prepared for school and ready to learn.”
