Beautify Columbus New Mexico (BCNM) hit record numbers this weekend as they cleaned up in advance of a congressional visit. According to Ravelle Flores, one of the group founders, BCNM collected a record 30 bags of trash this weekend alone. That brings the grand total collected since it’s November start to approximately 150 bags.
The group began as a small neighborhood effort devoted to picking up trash on Slocum street and has expanded to include 15+ volunteers and over 200 “labor of love” hours.
BCNM invites everyone to join them Sunday mornings from 8-10am. Weekly locations are posted on CNM-News and in the Beautify Columbus New Mexico Facebook Group.
