The arts center in Deming hosted a show including some of Columbus’ favorite musicians. Deb Olliver, July McClure and Bob Eller wowed an intimate crowd in Deming on Sunday with their renditions of cowboy classics and homegrown originals.
As part of the Deming Arts Center’s Cowboy Western theme for the month of January, the gang put together their favorite songs to entertain locals at two 90 minute shows at 1pm and 3pm.
The musicians shared duties, swapping lead instrumentals and vocals while layering harmonies throughout the course of the program. Tumblim’ Tumbleweed, T-E-X-A-S, and My Arizona Home were some of their gems.
Eller opened with a wistful original instrumental guitar piece, New Mexico Sunset. McClure treated the audience to her yodeling skills on Cowboy Sweatheart while Olliver shined singing her original piece, You’re in New Mexico. Olliver and McClure closed out the shhow with a rousing rendition of Ghost Riders in the Sky.
The Deming Arts Center is non-profit that sponsors arts and entertainment programs in Luna County. They hold arts workshops for kids and adults, gallery showings and musical events. DAC also sells local artists wares in their giftshop during opening hours of Monday through Friday 10 to 4, Saturdays 10 to 1.
